Auditing For Fraud

Featuring Dennis F. Dycus, CFE, CPA, CGFM

It is estimated that entities lose on average, 5 to 6% of their revenues as a result of fraud which, for the most part, is committed by employees.  We all talk about auditing for fraud, but exactly what are we looking for, because fraud takes on many forms.  Fraud must not look like fraud in order to be successful, so it must look like something else.  Will you be able to recognize the subtle indicators of fraud and how they change from client to client, for they may be an indicator at one place but common practice at another, and you have to know the difference?  What does fraud look like?  I don’t know, but I’ll know it when I see it.  Once you observe an indication of fraud, then what are you going to do.  This session is designed to assist you in recognizing indicators of fraud and then providing you with directions as to how to follow up on the indicators to determine if fraud actually occurred.   More
